ARC Canada Re-Signs With Canadian Technology Support Program

Saint John, New Brunswick - ARC Canada is pleased to announce it is extending its membership with the CANDU Owners Group (COG), Vendor Participant Program. As a founding member of the program in 2019, ARC Canada sees the benefit of collaborating in mutually beneficial initiatives with other Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technology companies in Canada.

COG is a non-profit corporation dedicated to providing programs for the co-operation, mutual assistance and exchange of information for successful support, development, operation, maintenance and economics within the Canadian Nuclear Industry. Along with its participants, COG operates through a collaborative approach to support the collective interests and address common challenges for all vendors, independent of technology. The recent inclusivity of SMR technology demonstrates the evolution and expansion of the COG organization to reflect the changing global market for the industry. With a mutual goal of success, the safe operation of nuclear generating stations, and increased economic benefits, the COG Vendor Participant Program will assist in ensuring progress for a Pan Canadian Industry.

As a former Chief Nuclear Officer of one of the largest nuclear generating station in the world, ARC Canada President & CEO, Norman JD Sawyer is quite familiar with the benefits of this well-established organization. “COG has always provided a forum for which the industry can collaborate on mutually beneficial initiatives including research and development, joint projects, task teams and working groups” Mr. Sawyer continues, “in addition, the group is a network that facilitates discussions towards the betterment of the industry as a whole.”

Acknowledging the current global pandemic, ARC Canada as a company continues to move forward with the highest regard to employee and public safety as it continues to work diligently with the future of New Brunswick in mind. Participating in the COG Vendor Participant Program from a distance is another example of how ARC Canada is forging ahead to not only provide clean baseload energy to compliment renewables such as wind and solar in New Brunswick, but also continue developing its vision of providing well paying manufacturing and supply chain jobs. Mr. Sawyer notes that ARC Canada is firmly established in New Brunswick and maintains confidence that this Province brings a fit-for-service site, strong nuclear background, safe and effective nuclear operator, flexible workforce and ideal academia supporting development and innovation, ideal for the ARC Canada technology.
